Moving Forward: Three Years After the Joplin Tornado

As part of the Joplin Community, The Salvation Army stands with the citizens of Joplin as we remember the Joplin tornado. Our work with tornado survivors in the Joplin area included $1 million in our first response efforts and an additional $1 million in intermediate term help to our neighbors there. A large portion of our efforts in Joplin reflects The Salvation Army’s proven, 125-year-long commitment to the city. We are currently finalizing agreements that will provide meaningful long-term housing relief to Tornado-affected families. It’s never wise to discuss specifics of partnerships or agreements until they are complete; therefore, we ask the public to understand that we simply cannot share further details at this time.
We will remain transparent in our communication with the Joplin community. We will post updates when we do have specifics to share about our progress in continuing long-term recovery. Please look for any announcements on our website at stlsalvationarmy.org or on Facebook at facebook.com/salarmystl.
