KIRKSVILLE, Mo. (September 16, 2014) – The Kirksville Salvation Army has been serving neighbors in need in Adair County for 120 years by providing practical and spiritual support. This holiday season, The Army will once again provide toys to needy children in partnership with KTUF-FM and the Kirksville Fire Department. Applications for the “Adopt-a-Child” toy program are currently being accepted and more information is available by calling 660-665-7885.
“We are on the front lines meeting the needs of those in our community. We have been for 120 years and are looking forward to the next 120 years,” said Lieutenant Brian Bump of The Salvation Army of Kirksville, Missouri. “We have a pantry that is open three days a week, we provide various forms of emergency assistance, and of course we are a church.”
Other programs offered by the Kirksville Corps include activities for youth every Tuesday night, band rehearsals on Thursday, and various family activities throughout the month on Fridays. The week concludes with Sunday Worship Services and Sunday School, which all are welcome to attend.
The Salvation Army is dependent upon the community’s support and donor generosity. An individual can provide support by volunteering in the food pantry or Thrift Store, donating clothing items or food, and, of course, financial support is always appreciated.
