St. Louis, Mo. – The Salvation Army St. Charles County announced the winning municipalities of the 2015 Tree of Lights Elected Officials Bell Ring Challenge at the St. Charles County Municipal League February 29, 2016 meeting.
The 2015 Tree of Lights Salvation Army of St. Charles County Elected Officials Bell Ring Challenge raised $6062.72. Eight cities participated in the bell ringing challenge on December 12, 2015: Cottleville, Dardenne Prairie, Lake St. Louis, O’Fallon, St. Charles, St. Peters, Wentzville, and West Alton.
Winners were divided in two categories; municipalities with populations of less than 10,000 residents and municipalities with more than 10,000 residents. The 2015 winners are:
- Cottleville was the winner of the small municipality challenge, raising $1,389.35
- Wentzville was the winner of the larger municipality challenge, raising $899.97
Both winners also receive The Salvation Army Officers’ Elected Officials Bell Ringing Bragging Rights Trophy.
Five St. Charles County cities participated in 2014: Dardenne Prairie, Lake St. Louis, O’Fallon, St. Peters and St. Charles. The challenge raised $4,190.62 in 2014.
The Salvation Army will use revenue generated by the Elected Officials Bell Ringing Challenges to provide services such as food pantries and youth programs in St. Charles County.
