The Salvation Army Midland Division, along with six other non-profit organizations received the Fostering Regional Collaboration Award at FOCUS St. Louis’ 2016 What’s Right with the Region Awards. The award was presented to the “Flood Disaster Response Collaboration” group for their actions following the December 2015 floods across the St. Louis region.
The Salvation Army Midland Division, along with Catholic Charities of St. Louis,/St. Francis Community Services, the American Red Cross, United Way of Greater St. Louis, Americorps St. Louis, Lutheran Family and Children’s Services, Society of St. Vincent de Paul and Adventist Community Services Disaster Services served as lead agencies along with more than 60 other organizations. They collaborated in putting together a Multi-Agency Resouce Center (MARC) for residents impacted by the severe flooding.
The MARC provided a one-stop shop for families to get the help and services they needed after the flooding, from immediate needs to long term needs.
