For more than a decade, the popular Toy Town program has helped ensure more St. Louis children wake up to a present under their tree on Christmas morning. It also provides families with vouchers to purchase groceries for Christmas dinner.
In order to qualify, Toy Town applicants (households with at least one child under 17-years-old) must meet at least 125-percent of the federal poverty guideline, and General Assistance applications (households with no children under 17-years-old) must meet at least 150-percent of the federal poverty guideline. All applicants must bring to registration a photo ID; Social Security cards for all household members; proof of income – including child support, food stamps, etc.; and a piece of mail with the applicant’s current address.
