Sweetening the morning for area veterans on National Donut Day

ST. LOUIS, MO (June 3, 2014) – The Salvation Army is going back to its root to provide nearly 2,000 donuts to area veterans in celebration of the 77th annual National Donut Day on Friday, June 6 from 8:30am-11am. With generous support from Schnucks and Old Town Donuts, Salvation Army officers and volunteers from Deloitte Consulting LLC, U.S. Bank, Simmons First and The Wendt Family Foundation will personally distribute donuts to military veterans at 13 locations around the St. Louis area. Knights of Columbus assemblies and councils are also contributing to these efforts.

The Art of a Brand New Life

A serious medical condition left Kathryn in a coma for a couple of weeks, and when she woke up, she had severe memory loss and much trouble with verbal communication. She applied for disability payments, but was denied.

When she started falling behind on bills and rent payments, Kathryn turned to her local Salvation Army for assistance – and to serve as a volunteer working with the homeless. While there, she received lots of love and support from the staff.
