Celebrate National Donut Day in St. Louis, June 3rd!

Entenmann’s® Bakery and The Salvation Army are honoring military veterans on National Donut Day, Friday, June 3rd.

To recognize the holiday, originally founded by The Salvation Army in 1938, Entenmann’s® will commemorate the military men and women serving, and who have served our country. The donut is a symbol of The Salvation Army’s service to honor the “Donut Lassies” who gave out the round treats to soldiers during World War I. National Donut Day is held annually on the first Friday of June. Grocery shoppers will see four different Entenmann’s co-branded boxes featuring The Salvation Army from March 29 to June 3.

Joplin: Five Years Later

Joplin, Mo.–As part of the Joplin community, The Salvation Army joins other survivors this week in commemorating the passing of five years since one of the deadliest tornadoes in US history struck the Southwest Missouri area.

Continuing in its commitment to the survivors of the Joplin Tornado, The Salvation Army Midland Division is nearing the final allocation of recovery funds raised from the tornado that struck Joplin, Missouri on May 22, 2011. In all, The Salvation Army raised $6.8 million in donations on behalf of survivors of the deadly storm.

St. Louis Landmarks Light Up Red for National Salvation Army Week

St. Louis, Mo. – St. Louisans will see numerous St. Louis area landmarks lit up in red during the week of May 9-15. The 63rd annual National Salvation Army Week is typically observed during the second week of May and was first declared by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1954. The Salvation Army recognizes the 3.5 million volunteers who give their time and talents to The Salvation Army each year and help us in “Doing The Most Good” for those in need every year!
