As long as there has been a Salvation Army, there have been Salvation Army programs in place to honor those who have risked so much for our well-being. From offering doughnuts and other provisions on the front lines in WWII to offering long-term housing solutions to homeless veterans, The Salvation Army works daily to promote the military.
The level of veterans’ services that The Salvation Army provides varies at each center. While some community centers bundle care packages, others ensure that our veterans experience fellowship, rest and a renewal of faith through camp programs.
Our Harbor Light Center in downtown St. Louis offers a program through the United States Veterans’ Affairs department which allows homeless or ill veterans an opportunity to take advantage of housing, rehabilitation and job services for up to 24 months.
