The Gateway Community Center offers programs for patrons of all ages – from senior fitness classes to after-school programs. The goal of the Gateway Center is to engage every member of the community.


Fitness Room: The workout room, featuring weights, bikes, a treadmill and more is available to members only, ages 16 and up. The room is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday. Members must bring their own towel.

Qigong: Weekly Qigong classes start March 8, from 6 to 7 p.m.! Similar to Tai Chi, Qigong reduces stress, builds stamina, increases vitality, improves balance and enhances the immune system! Call 314-631-1133 to register!

Walking in the Gym: Walkers may use the gym on Monday, Tuesday and Friday mornings from 8:00 to 11:30 a.m., and on Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Membership is required.

Music Programming

Music Lessons/Junior Band: This group meets Tuesdays at 5:00 p.m. Kids learn how to play musical instruments and to practice under the instruction of skilled teachers and church performers. For more information, please contact the office at 314-631-1133.

Youth Enrichment Programs

After-School Program: This program is held Monday through Friday, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and includes organized games held both indoors and out. The program, for children ages 5 to 14, requires membership. Pick-up services are available for students of St. Mark’s and Bayless Schools. Computer Lab: Open to boys and girls Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Character-Building Programs: These programs, similar to the Scout structure, provide Christian values and help to build character. Contact Gateway direct at 314-631-1133 for more information on all listed below.

  • Moonbeams: For boys and girls ages 4 to 5, this is a character-building program with an emphasis on living for Jesus.
  • Sunbeams: This fun-filled programs helps girls, ages 6-11, develop socially, mentally and spiritually. Projects include community volunteerism projects, nature study, homemaking and more.
  • Girl Guards: This program is for young women in grades 6 through 12. This club is organized with the total girl in mind. Camping, personal achievement, recreation, outings and more are part of the program.
  • Adventure Corps: This group is for boys grades 1 through 8, and allows young men to develop individuality, potential and a relationship with Christ.

Discovery Zone: This program meets on Thursdays from 4:00-4:30 p.m. for Bible games in the gym and short applications.

Home School Physical Education: This structured physical education program offers exercise, social skills, games and fun. Membership is required, and a $50 class fee per school year applies. Karate Classes: Co-ed karate classes meet on Monday and Wednesdays from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. Call the center at 314-631-1133 for more information.

Adult Sports

Men’s Basketball League: Open to teams, this Thursday night league is for men ages 18 and up and is governed by M.H.S.A. rules. For information, contact Cort Hubbard at  314-631-0727 or via email.

Open Play Men’s Basketball: Men ages 18 and up are welcome to come for drop-in play on Tuesday nights from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Members and visitors welcome. Fees charged at reception desk.

Men’s & Women’s Volleyball Leagues: These leagues play on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., teams only, for a fee of $180.00 per season per team. Membership is required. for more information, contact Connie Reker at 314-631-1133 or via email.

Seniors Open Game Room: The game room, which features board games, pool, foosball and more is open to seniors on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Badminton: Gateway offers open play Badminton on Friday evenings at 7:00 p.m. Men and women are welcome. Membership is required, equipment furnished.

Volleyball Tournaments: These take place on Saturdays during the year. For more information, or for those interested in holding a tournament on a rental basis, contact Connie Reker at 314-631-1133 or via email.

Badminton Scramble: These events are held in the spring and fall. Anyone age 35 & up is eligible to compete. Games are held on Saturdays. For further information, contact Connie Reker at 314-631-1133 or via email.

Adult Enrichment Programs

Golden Agers Club: This senior program meets on Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m.  and includes trips, lunches, entertainment, bingo and more. Membership is required. Visitors are welcome.

Women’s Ministry: A weekly meeting for today’s women, this program is held on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. and includes fellowship opportunities, service projects, education, crafts, worship and more. Refreshments served.

Songsters: This co-ed choir meets on Thursday evenings from 7 to 8 p.m. and prepares special song arrangements for Sunday services at Gateway.

Men’s Fellowship: This group of men meets on the second Saturday of every month at 8:45 a.m. at the local Hometown Buffet for bible study, devotions, outings and more. Call 314-631-1133 for more information.
